Call for Passage of the Build Back Better Act

From life-threatening flooding and hurricanes to wildfires and heatwaves, we're experiencing the impacts of climate change at our doorsteps. The crisis facing our natural world is undeniable, but it's not too late to invest in real solutions. Right now, Congress has the opportunity to prioritize transformative climate action with the Build Back Better Act. Members of Congress need to hear from you.

This action is only open to US residents. Messages directly sent to Congress require all information fields to be filled out. We encourage you to personalize your message below, and let your representative know why this issue is important to you.

Dear your U.S. senators,

I am writing to urge you and your colleagues in the US Senate to quickly move to pass the Build Back Better Act. The climate crisis represents an existential threat to both people and nature. The Build Back Better Act's climate provisions are essential to help guard against worsening climate impacts while creating millions of new, clean energy jobs. In the United States, we have already seen an increase in forest fires and catastrophic floods, decreases in agricultural yields, and depleting freshwater systems. Science tells us that we must limit the rise in average global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius by midcentury to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. If we are to meet that goal, we must act now.

The House-passed Build Back Better Act is an historic federal investment for climate. The bill includes $555 billion to jumpstart the transition to a clean energy economy while creating high-quality, good paying jobs. If enacted, this bill would:

* Modernize the nation's outdated electrical grid to make it smart, clean, and reliable.

* Speed up the deployment and adoption of renewable energy sources by providing major tax incentives to move towards clean energy and away from dirty fossil fuels

* Accelerate the build out of electric vehicle infrastructure throughout the nation while making it cheaper for middle-class families to purchase these vehicles

* Reduce the cost for families to electrify their at-home heating and cooling systems by thousands of dollars

* Minimize pollution from high-emitting factories and in turn ensure clean air for some of our most vulnerable communities

* Protect and restore public lands s to secure healthy and resilient ecosystems and America's outdoor economy

* Establish a Civilian Climate Corps, creating over 300,000 jobs working to clean up pollution and adapt to climate change.

Our communities, our economy, and the natural treasures we love hang in the balance. The Senate must act now to pass the Build Back Better Act with its climate provisions intact.

Sincerely,
