Help Save the Monarch Butterfly
We're working to save the monarch butterfly, a species that is losing its home right in our own backyards. We need you to help us.
Over 280,000 supporters have stepped up to give monarchs a voice—something that is even more necessary after a devastating and surprising winter storm hit the monarchs' overwintering grounds in Mexico this month.
Sign up for the Monarch Squad and get the latest on what you can do to help save the monarch butterfly.
Milkweed, the only plant monarchs use to lay eggs and the main source of food for baby caterpillars, is disappearing all across the United States. Forests in Mexico where monarchs spend their winters are being torn down. And warmer weather is confusing butterflies, which wait for cold temperatures to begin their annual migrations.
All of these threats add up to one sad fact: monarch populations have been on the decline for decades.
These amazing creatures need your help.
It's a big challenge, but together we can save the monarchs.
