URGENT: Hold Your Senators Accountable

As President-elect Trump assembles his new Administration, it's essential that the people he appoints to run US federal agencies take seriously the threats we face from climate change and their responsibility to protect our land, water, wildlife and clean air.

Write your Senators and ask them to press the President-elect's nominees for answers during the upcoming confirmation hearings.

Dear Senators,

As your constituent, I ask that you use the upcoming Senate confirmation hearings to properly vet all new appointees from President-elect Trump.

In particular, it is essential that anyone nominated to head federal agencies that have a role in protecting our environment demonstrate not only their qualifications but also their commitment to carry out that mission.

I strongly believe that nominees to run agencies such as the EPA, the Department of Interior, the Department of Energy, USAID, and the Department of State need to prioritize the health and wellbeing of the American people and the protection of the planet that all of us share. That is why before voting to confirm these nominees, you should first confirm that they will take strong steps to conserve our natural resources and combat climate change.

We are at a tipping point for our planet, and the next Administration needs to continue to do all it can to ensure our children and grandchildren will enjoy a sustainable and healthy future. This includes taking the challenge of climate change seriously and continuing to work with the rest of the world to reduce global carbon emissions and confront worsening climate change impacts, including here in the United States.

Please use the confirmation process to thoroughly vet incoming nominees for EPA, Interior, Energy, USAID, State and other relevant agencies to ensure that they will support and enforce laws and regulations put in place to protect our air, water, land and wildlife. Please also ensure that anyone put in such a position of leadership in the US Government not only agrees with the overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is happening, but also embraces the need for federal agencies to continue taking urgent actions to address it, both at home and abroad.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
