Aileen Bowdoin Train, a founding leader and dear friend of WWF, died peacefully at her home on July 7, 2017.
Aileen was a dynamic force for conservation and the protection of wildlife and wild places around the world. Aileen and Russ, a founder of WWF-US, were deeply committed to building local conservation leadership and institutions. Almost twenty years ago, WWF began the Russell E. Train Education for Nature (Train EFN) Program to provide financial support to proven and potential conservation leaders in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Aileen's family has asked that any contributions made in her memory go support EFN to continue her incredible legacy in conservation leadership.
