Be the hero nature needs - raise funds to protect our planet as you run wild at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 10, 2021.
When you run with WWF's Panda Nation, you’ll tackle the biggest, toughest challenges facing the planet—things like illegal wildlife trade, deforestation, climate change and water scarcity. While those challenges are massive, when we work together, we can take on anything. That’s why every day, WWF works in unity with many people, partners, and institutions to achieve lasting conservation solutions.
IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
One of our highest priorities is the well-being of our supporters, volunteers, and staff. WWF is in close contact with race organizers who are monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. The race organizers may need to reevaluate plans for the race as the situation evolves following guidance from medical experts. Race participants must follow the guidance of the CDC, state and local restrictions, and all health and safety protocols put in place by the race organizers.
We realize there remains a good deal of uncertainty on what the year ahead holds for many of us. To view the complete cancellation policy from race organizers, please visit the Chicago Marathon's website.
We have pulled out a couple of answers to some of the most commonly asked questions before deciding how to proceed.
What if I need to cancel my registration to the Chicago Marathon?
If you sign up and then are unable to participate in the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, you can cancel your entry at any time through your Chicago Marathon account, but you will still be responsible for reaching your fundraising commitment to WWF. If you cancel your entry in the 2021 event and fulfill your fundraising commitment, you will be guaranteed a spot in the 2022 event, but you will be responsible for paying the 2022 race entry fee directly to Chicago Marathon.
What if the 2021 Chicago Marathon is cancelled?
If it is determined, for reasons outside of the event's control, that the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon cannot take place, you will be given an option to defer your race entry and based on this year you could defer your fundraising to the 2022 event. We are confirming with Chicago that they will be handling it the same way this year should this situation arise again. No matter if you choose to defer your entry or not, your 2021 race registration fees, and the donations will be put towards advancing our mission to protect wildlife and their habitats.
