Welcome to My Personal Page
After being in a running lull period during the pandemic, I found myself not feeling up to my usual activities, not being in the right mindset, and losing speed and endurance that I worked hard to get. After some much-needed inspiration from the Boston Marathon in October 2021, I laced up the shoes to start on my running adventures again. In December 2021, I ran my first half marathon since the pandemic started to keep the annual streak alive. Though it wasn't my best, it wasn't my worst either. With the support of my new biggest fan Nic, I was able to conquer the NYC hills. After reflecting on the journey and being humbled by the sport, I was motivated and convinced by cousin Nick to train for and run the Chicago Marathon 2022. It'll be a family affair with not one, but two Kaleel's running in the race. I chose to run for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in honor of Kristi, pursuing her passion for animals while studying hard in veterinary school. Growing up my cousins Jack and Tia would always talk about animals, new facts they learned, and their fascination finally got to me...all these years later. Also, being a Florida native and having a love for the Ocean, made WWF really hit home.
If you are unfamiliar with WWF, here are a few facts to acclimate you to their cause:
"Deforestation, climate change, water scarcity, and illegal wildlife trade. These are some of the threats facing our planet today—and no one person or group can tackle them alone.
But if we work together, we can take on anything. That’s why every day, WWF works in unity with many people, partners, and institutions to achieve lasting conservation solutions.
You can be part of those solutions. You can protect the very things that keep us alive: our forests, our oceans, our fresh water, our wildlife, our energy supply, our food supply."
Your donation today will help make it possible to protect the future of nature.
Thank you for giving what you can.
