Pandas have had a special place in my heart since 2005. The first time I came face to face with the black and white bundles of joy, I knew I needed to do my part to save them.

In 5th grade, I participated in the Pennies for Pandas competition through the National Zoo to raise $285 for the Pandas. I spoke to my classmates and made panda-themed prizes for anyone who donated.

Fast forward 17 years, and I still haven't given up on my pandas! I may not have my twelve stuffed animal pandas, panda backpack, or panda slippers - but this October I'm running the Chicago Marathon as part of the World Wildlife Fund's Panda Nation team.
