Team's Fundraising Goal: $5,000.00
Hey guys, it’s Katie and Becca from team Kelp Wanted. We hope you’ll join us August 12-21 for the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) 2022 Panda Paddle! During this paddle sport and fundraising competition, we will be putting in the miles both out of the water and on it to raise awareness about the importance of our wonderful natural waterways and their ecosystems. Team Kelp Wanted loves to play on the beach and in the ocean, just like our friendly mascot the sea otter! And just like our friend, we know the crucial impact that his home, the kelp forest, makes on our world. Beautiful but at-risk marine ecosystems like kelp forests, mangrove forests, and reefs act to reduce the overall effects of climate change by acting as a buffer to the shore against storm-driven tides, preventing erosion of nearshore sand, and absorbing and storing carbon. With the number of tropical storms increasing exponentially each year and only estimated to keep growing, we should all want a little more kelp in our lives.
Please help us to reach our goal of donating $5,000 dollars to the WWF, in support of their efforts to rehabilitate our unique marine ecosystems around the world. Whether you love playing in the water or staying on the shore, any contribution you make will allow us all to enjoy the water for years to come. Make your tax-deductible donation of any amount to our Panda Paddle page today by clicking the "Donate Now" link above, taking you to a secure transaction site.
