Welcome to My Panda Paddle Page
I grew up a "dog" person but, since marrying my beautiful wife, I have become a "cat" person. I love all cats, big and small. Becky and I rescue stray cats and find them new homes or at least that is the plan. The new forever home always winds up being ours! At one time we had seven house cats but now do to old age we are down to five.
On our vacations we always tour big cate refuges that are nearby our destination. I have petted and loved on cougars, bobcats and savannahs. The savannah wanted me to take it home with us; that did not make the refuge owner very happy.
My favorite big cat is the snow leopard. To me they are the most beautiful of the big cats. They are mostly found in high mountain ranges, including the Himalayas and the southern Siberian mountains in Russia and Tibetan Plateau and across a range that stretches from China to the mountains of Central Asia. Snow leopards normally live 15-18 years and can hit a top speed of 40 mph. They are listed as Vulnerable due to poaching and habitat destruction. From August 20-22, I will join with nature lovers from all across the country as we paddle separately, but together, on our favorite bodies of water as part of World Wildlife Fund's Panda Paddle Virtual Event.
